“When a painting truly ‘works’ there is a resonance which stretches beyond subject and picture plane, reaching out to the audience and transcending a mere visual experience. To be able to convey something of the ‘real’ of my subjects, which are the common place, the humble, the overlooked, the places and work things of mankind, is a powerful and stimulating experience. I have a deep, joyful, and respectful excitement at the beginning of every new work. We watercolour painters search for the ephemeral essence of our very souls through the art we love, this is our philosophy and the truth of our vision.”
