On behalf of the President, Council and Members of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours we thank all the students aged 11 and 18, the watercolourists of the future for entering their inspiring work into the RI Coronation Award this year.
We have had a strong submission and 40 of the finalists’ paintings are available to view here.
These finalists’ paintings will enter final judging very soon and the Winner and two runners-up will be announced before Christmas.
The panel of judges for this years’ competition is made up of three prominent Members of the RI: Claire Sparkes, Ian Sidaway and the RI President Chris Myers.
As well as awarding the First Prize of £300 and two Runners-Up Prizes of art materials to the value of £150 each, certificates will also be awarded to a further nine entrants who the judges consider worthy of merit.
The three prizewinners will have their paintings exhibited at the
212th Exhibition of the
Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours
at the Mall Galleries in London.
March 28th until April 13th 2024
The three prizewinners will also be invited to have their prizes presented to them by
the President of the RI and his guest speaker at the official opening of the Exhibition,
which will be held at the Mall Galleries, London at 3pm on Wednesday 27th March 2024.
Our thanks to all the students who so enthusiastically took part and helped to make this first
