COOK IAN JPGAnyone who is interested in art evinces a curiosity not only about the creative product realised, but also a need to comprehend the basis and foundation of the artist’s statement. To that end most of my works provide a narrative that refers to the source and inspiration of the work. I have always sought to study diverse cultures, and, in order to amplify that understanding, I’ve undertaken long-term projects of research in specific continents in the belief that unlimited travel broadens the horizons of creative experience as well as imbuing one with a greater sense of compassion and tolerance towards other races. They say that he, she who travels incessantly is seeking something. There’s more than a degree of truth in that because the goal itself is probably more akin to a spiritual resolution than the mere accumulation of expeditionary miles.
