Ann Blockley RI, George Politis RI and Robert King RI, have recently returned from an Artist Exchange Project called “When London meets Wenzhou”. This was organised by Nanxi Academy, Zhejiang, China and was part of an ongoing project to establish cultural communication and friendship between Chinese and artists from different countries.
This September, eight British artists from different genres met eight Chinese artists to paint and swap thoughts and ideas about the differences between art in the East and West. They were taken to many spectacular scenic spots to sketch. There will be a book and exhibition in London in 2020 to celebrate the work made by all the artists who participated.
Ann Blockley RI said, ‘ We were treated with incredible generosity and friendship. I’m still pinching myself that it wasn’t a dream- the food, company, cultural experiences and landscapes were simply amazing.’
