Like many, I still derive a childish satisfaction from putting paint on to paper, especially strong colour. My pleasure is all the greater when I can see a painting through to finish with first-time applications of colour- no tinkering, no overpainting and no swabbing out!
I know I am not unusual in this, many artists seem to take pride in exuberantly painted work which to the non-painter looks relatively rough and ready!
