On behalf of the President, Council and Members of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours we thank all the students aged 11 and 18, the watercolourists of the future, for entering their inspiring work into the RI Coronation Award this year.
We have had an extremely strong submission and 40 of the finalists’ paintings are now available to view here.
The Winner and two runners-up will be announced on 7th February 2025.
The panel of judges for this years’ competition is made up of three prominent Members of the RI: Claire Sparkes, Matthew Phinn and the RI President Chris Myers.
This year the prize has been generously sponsored by Dryad Education.
Dryad are offering a materials bursary of £1000 to the winning school, as well as awarding art materials to the value of £300 to the First Prize Winner and to the value of £150 to each of the two Runners-Up.
Certificates will also be awarded to up to a further ten entrants who the judges consider worthy of merit.
The three prizewinners will have their paintings exhibited at the 213th Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Mall Galleries in London,
March 26th until April 5th 2025.
They will also be invited to have their prizes presented to them by the President of the RI and his guest speaker at the Private View of the Exhibition, which will be held at the Mall Galleries, London on Tuesday March 25th at 7pm.
